This ’40 Ford installation article does an excellent job of showing how a typical kit is installed. Although each kit has dimensions and shapes unique to its specific application, the basic procedure remains the same. The article explains how to install stock control arms and strut rods, which are seldom used with the advent of our polished stainless arms. Just the same, understand this sequence, and your instructions will be made more clear. The thing that most people confuse is the forward/aft position of the shock towers. DO NOT set the shock towers by using a plumb bob thru the shock mounting holes! As the article and the drawing in our instructions show, the center of the shocktower at its baseline goes to the axle centerline. This quite intentionally puts the top of the shock tower about 3/16" behind the axle centerline so that the upper arm has some caster built into it, by having the upper ball joint slightly behind the lower. The antidive angle of the shocktower (raking the upper control arm shaft to the rear) pulls the upper centerline to the rear as just explained.
