We can supply brand new 32-34 Ford chassis, built on quality reproduction main rails. We then assemble these in our own weld fixtures, built from original frames. The frame will accept any 32 body with a flat floor, that is, 5W coupes, sedans, and roadsters. The original steel 32 3W coupes and Vickys have a dropped rear footwell that will require a special version of the x-member, although repro glass bodies will often have the flat floor to avoid this possible problem.
The 32 cars and pickups all have a fender style that will not allow the use of a MII based suspension such as the Coilover IFS listed below. They can use the normal dropped axle, Vintage IFS, or Affordable IFS suspension options. The 33-34 pickups have similar fenders, and must use the same type suspension as all 32's.
The 33-34 passenger bodies have fenders with a small teardrop shaped inner fender panel that can be trimmed to allow the MII Coilover IFS to fit. These are normally supplied in a 2in narrowed version, providing a 55in track width that is exclusive to Fatman Fab, which gives an extra inch of tire clearance per side over standard MII IFS kits by other companies.
It is important to know that '33-'34 passenger fiberglass bodies vary wildly as to the dimension across the frame rails. This can present a problem since the rockers hug the frame so tightly. We can suggest that you either buy the frame first to have the body assembled on it, or have the body manufacturer supply accurate dimensions.
We can build the chassis any way you wish, with the options below a good choice to begin. If you are using a reproduction body, we are able to supply a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO) and 17 digit VIN number which will assist you in getting a proper title from your local DMV. We are a legally listed manufacturer with the Federal Government and our MSO is the same paperwork provided with any new car. Many states allow you to title the car as the year it most closely resembles, and inspect it as that year. Some others will require you to title it as the year we built the chassis, and typically then inspect it as to the year of the engine used. Fortunately, the general practice is to use the emission specs for the earliest year that engine type was built, that being 1968 for a new crate 350 Chevy. Since there were no emission specs outside of California in 1968, the engine need not meet any emission limits. There are 50 states with 50 sets of ever changing regulations, so visit your local DMV Enforcement officials to get the local requirements. It is a violation of Federal law for any one other than the original manufacturer to supply a VIN number or to stamp one on a car. Therefore, you must request this service before your chassis leaves our shop. We cannot supply you a number to stamp on it later, and will only supply the paperwork for reproduction bodies.
We thank you for your interest, and urge you to discuss your ideas with our sales staff and chassis specialists. We have many pleased customers now, and would love to be a part of fulfilling your dream car!
